The City of Rockingham and the Peron Naturaliste Partnership are working on a community focused coastal values study at Waikiki Beach, whcih is vulnerable to coastal erosion. A key aim of this project is to gain a better understanding of what communities currently value at this beach and how these values may be impacted by climate change.

The project team want to hear from the community so that the features of the coast that we love are maintained into the future. The project will include an information session, beach user survey and a workshop to be held in early 2018. If you want to get involved, you can attend the upcoming information session that will be held at the Gary Holland Centre on Wednesday 11th October from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. To register to attend the upcoming information session email Joanne Ludbrook at the PNP or call 9550 3243.

The beach user surveys will take place at Waikiki Beach at differnt periods over the next 9 months. You can also complete an online survey here.

This project has received funding from the Western Australian Planning Commission’s Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program.
