The Peron Naturaliste Partnership and Damara WA won Best Poster at the Climate Adaptation 2016 Conference held in Adelaide from 5 – 7 July 2016. The fifth conference held by the  National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) and CSIRO showcased the growing body of climate change adaptation knowledge in Australia and internationally.

The poster highlighted the PNP’s strategy for a sustainable, long-term and standardised Coastal Monitoring Program of coastal and estuarine areas. The monitoring program provides a strategy for systematic, regional physical monitoring of the beaches and coastal systems to inform and assist decision making with respect to ongoing coastal management, planning and adaptation. While the information provided is necessarily regional in scope, it is also mindful of each local government’s ongoing responsibility to manage their own coastline and prioritise their discrete set of management issues.
